PROTECTED LANDSCAPES
Protected sites come in a huge array of different forms - from national parks to wilderness areas to marine protected areas. These landscapes are crucial for safeguarding the environment but also for benefiting people. Landscapes underpin the provision of ecosystem services such as the regulation of water flow and soil quality. They also provide refugia for the plants and animals we all like to see. Protected landscapes benefit people through providing non-material benefits such as spiritual experiences and recreational opportunities. Here we present some images in and around some of our favourite protected landscapes, hoping to inspire you to enjoy and learn more about these sites.
